A new play (written & performed by Jose Sonera) about the extraordinary and troubled life of late comedian Freddie Prinze Sr. - one of the first Latino pioneers to pave the way for future Hispanic entertainers including John Leguizamo & George Lopez. The time is October 1976. The place is the IMPROV comedy club in New York City. Freddie Prinze, Sr. is giving one of his last performances, just a few months before his death. Moving back and forth between the stage and the dressing room of the IMPROV, Sonera interlaces Prinze's best comedy sets with original monologues that illuminate the life of the late comedian. A short comedic play about Joe, an aspiring playwright who moved to New York City with dreams of making it big on Broadway. Consumed with side jobs to survive, he has no time to write. Desperate to free himself, he comes up with a brilliant idea to create more time and have his bills covered by becoming a patient at a mental institution. He now has to put on the performance of a lifetime to get admitted and begin his writing. Once inside things don’t go as planned and fearing for his life he desperately seeks a way out but soon discovers it was much easier getting in.
